AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine group.
The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Content
This release also brings the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
