Cars in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers stated they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say initial examinations show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
