The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
